Friday, 12:30 pm<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not really sure what\u2019s going on right now.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady is frantically running around trying to catch me in the field.\u00a0 <\/span>It must be a game.\u00a0 <\/span>I think I\u2019m winning.\u00a0 <\/span>She keeps telling me that if I don\u2019t stop running around she\u2019s going to feed me to the sharks.\u00a0 <\/span>What is a shark and why would they want to eat me?<\/p>\n

12:45 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady won the game and tricked me around the tree so I am now loaded on the trailer and going somewhere.\u00a0 <\/span>She didn\u2019t tell me where.<\/p>\n

12:55 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady brought me to her house!\u00a0 <\/span>I know it\u2019s her house because I\u2019ve been here many times.\u00a0 <\/span>She lets me eat grass in the field out back.\u00a0 <\/span>Why isn\u2019t she letting me out of the trailer and why is she yelling at the tall skinny man that comes with her sometimes?\u00a0 <\/span>And what is that sweet smell coming from the white truck?<\/p>\n

1:15 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>Okay, we\u2019re on the move again and I didn\u2019t get to go out in that field and eat any grass.\u00a0 <\/span>At least I know where I\u2019m going now.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady told that tall skinny man that she was very very late to be at The Muckleratz Ride.\u00a0 <\/span>I remember her telling me when we were working on trail that I was going to be at the Muckleratz Ride but that someone else would be riding me because her back still hurts a lot.\u00a0 <\/span>I tried to tell her that I would take it easy and she would be fine, just like when we ride on the trails, but she doesn\u2019t listen to me.\u00a0 <\/span>And I can still smell that sweet smell.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s coming into the trailer and making me sneeze.<\/p>\n

2:55 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>OH MY GOSH!!!!\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady is on fire.\u00a0 <\/span>There is smoke all over her.\u00a0 <\/span>WAIT!\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s not The Lady on fire, it\u2019s the white truck.\u00a0 <\/span>And it doesn\u2019t smell like fire, although it looks like fire.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s that sweet smell, really strong.\u00a0 <\/span>It makes me sneeze.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady has pulled off the road, gotten out of the white truck and is talking on the phone to someone.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady sounds sad.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t like when The Lady is sad.\u00a0 <\/span>If she would let me out, I could make her smile by doing something totally silly.\u00a0 <\/span>That always works.<\/p>\n

4:00 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>Uh oh, The lady has disconnected the trailer from the white truck.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m gonna die, I have no truck attached to my trailer.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s gonna end badly \u2026 oh, WAIT.\u00a0 <\/span>Who is this man hooking his truck up to my trailer?\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t know, but he makes The lady smile and laugh so that is good.\u00a0 <\/span>She\u2019s been sad for too long standing on the side of the road.<\/p>\n

4:20 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>Hey, I just met my rider for tomorrow, LeeAnn.\u00a0 <\/span>She told me that The Lady is having some trouble with her truck and I was supposed to do what LeeAnn asks me to do.\u00a0 <\/span>She\u2019s a nice person, she set up my corral and gave me hay and water.\u00a0 <\/span>I didn\u2019t have any hay in the trailer because The Lady did not think I would be in there very long.\u00a0 <\/span>LeeAnn petted me and told me I was pretty.<\/p>\n

6:30 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>LeeAnn is back and she gave me my favorite part of supper.\u00a0 <\/span>ENDURANCE SLURPY.\u00a0 <\/span>I love my slurpy food.\u00a0 <\/span>I only get it at the competitions.\u00a0 <\/span>I wonder if we\u2019re getting ready to go on a ride now?\u00a0 <\/span>But where\u2019s The Lady?\u00a0 <\/span>I am looking and looking for her and I\u2019ve called for her a hundred times.\u00a0 <\/span>Oh, let me eat this slurpy and think about that.<\/p>\n

8:30 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>I HEAR THE BLACK TRUCK and I start hollering and hollering.\u00a0 <\/span>I know it\u2019s The Lady.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m so glad she\u2019s here.\u00a0 <\/span>I hope she can hear me hollering and hollering.<\/p>\n

9:15 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>She\u2019s here!\u00a0 <\/span>She hugged me and hugged me.\u00a0 <\/span>I rubbed my head up and down her belly.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s good to see The Lady.\u00a0 <\/span>She said she had to visit with the riders while her friend Cate gave a ride briefing.\u00a0 <\/span>She told me that I was going to have a lot of fun tomorrow because the trail is great.\u00a0 <\/span>What\u2019s a Ride Briefing?<\/p>\n

10:05 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>Look here!\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady is sleeping in my trailer and I can stick my head in the window and puff air on her head.\u00a0 <\/span>How cool is that?\u00a0 <\/span>Oops, I must have puffed too much air because she closed the window cage and now I can just look in and see her.<\/p>\n

SATURDAY 4:30 am.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

I wake up The Lady and tell her I\u2019m starving and there is a ride going to happen soon.\u00a0 <\/span>She gets ups and give me A SLURPY!\u00a0 <\/span>I love my slurpy.\u00a0 <\/span>She gives me some hay and then brushes me.\u00a0 <\/span>All of a sudden, some loud speaker starts blaring music.\u00a0 <\/span>WOW, how cool is that?\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady tells me that all the horses will be waking up now so I need to stay calm and relaxed.\u00a0 <\/span>WHAT?\u00a0 <\/span>Is she kidding me?\u00a0 <\/span>I never get wound up about anything.\u00a0 <\/span>Ever!<\/p>\n

How cool is this?\u00a0 <\/span>Here comes LeeAnn.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady has disappeared doing secretary stuff for the ride (what is a secretary?) and LeeAnn brushes me again (love the brushing!) and puts on some fly spray (sigh, good stuff) and tells me all about the ride we\u2019re going to do.\u00a0 <\/span>YEA!<\/p>\n

She gets my girth from The Lady\u2019s saddle and saddles me up.\u00a0 <\/span>Oh, my pretty yellow bridle, too.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m glad because I really like my pretty yellow bridle.\u00a0 <\/span>She took off the bells?\u00a0 <\/span>Hey, LeeAnn?\u00a0 <\/span>I really like my bells, can we have them back on?\u00a0 <\/span>Pretty please?\u00a0 <\/span>(drat)\u00a0 <\/span>She said \u201cNo bells, it will scare her riding partner.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Bah humbug, I like my bells and I always tell The Lady how much I appreciate them because when my gear comes out and I hear the bells, I perk up and get all excited to go for a ride.\u00a0 <\/span>No-one else has bells on their gear, just me!!!\u00a0 <\/span>Because I am special!!!<\/p>\n

Hey, here comes that black mare again.\u00a0 <\/span>I recognize her voice!\u00a0 <\/span>She lives across the road from me at my home.\u00a0 <\/span>How nice to see her here at this ride.\u00a0 <\/span>Even if she does make faces at me.<\/p>\n

LeeAnn walks me around some and then we get to go by the blue truck that has the speakers in it.\u00a0 <\/span>I perk up my ears to hear that music again but it\u2019s not playing.\u00a0 <\/span>And we\u2019re off down the trail.\u00a0 <\/span>I love this part!\u00a0 <\/span>My tail is up, my ears are forward and I\u2019m doing my Happy Arab trot.\u00a0 <\/span>LeeAnn doesn\u2019t seem to mind my Happy Arab trot.\u00a0 <\/span>Everytime I do this trot, The Lady giggles \u2026 then she tells me to stop before I bounce her out of the saddle.<\/p>\n

\"Day<\/a>

Day 1 Water Stop<\/p><\/div>\n

I get to ride behind and let the other two horses find all the spider webs.\u00a0 <\/span>How cool is that?\u00a0 <\/span>LeeAnn seems to like me, she\u2019s relaxed her hands and is letting the reins droop just like The Lady does when we ride.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I take care of LeeAnn, letting her know when the trail is too rocky and we need to slow down and when the steep part comes, I carefully choose my footing on the way down so LeeAnn doesn\u2019t fall off.\u00a0 <\/span>She pats me a lot and tells me what a good girl I am.<\/p>\n

Oh, the ride was over too fast.\u00a0 <\/span>Here we are back at the camp again.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Ahhhh, I see \u2026 we\u2019re doing that HOLD thing.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m getting rinsed off (that feels nice) and then I get to have my pulse taken and do my pretty Arab trot for the vet.\u00a0 <\/span>Did I do good?\u00a0 <\/span>Did I?\u00a0 <\/span>I see The Lady watching me and she\u2019s smiling, so I must have done good.<\/p>\n

Whee, LeeAnn is back on and we\u2019re going on the trail again.\u00a0 <\/span>I heard her talking about snakes.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t like snakes.\u00a0 <\/span>I killed one at the barn a month ago.\u00a0 <\/span>Stomped and stomped on it and The Lady thought I was a hero.\u00a0 <\/span>What\u2019s a Hero?<\/p>\n

I have good rhythm this loop.\u00a0 <\/span>I drinks at all the water stops and eat grass and do everything The Lady taught me to do when I\u2019m working hard.\u00a0 <\/span>LeeAnn still likes me because she tells me how good I am.<\/p>\n

The trail is very nice to work on and we stop before we get to the base camp and we pig out on grass.\u00a0 <\/span>For a very long time.\u00a0 <\/span>I am getting a little antsy to get back and show The Lady how well I did but LeeAnn says it\u2019s not time to go yet.\u00a0 <\/span>Okay, I\u2019ll eat more grass.<\/p>\n

When we come in, The Lady isn\u2019t there to greet me.\u00a0 <\/span>I look everywhere but she must be off doing more secretary stuff.\u00a0 <\/span>No-one has explained that to me yet.<\/p>\n

Everything at the final vet check is great.\u00a0 <\/span>I know because LeeAnn is grinning ear to ear and telling me how wonderful I am.\u00a0 <\/span>That makes me happy.<\/p>\n

When we went back to the vet check and got the Hands-On, LeeAnn said I was perfectly wonderful.\u00a0 <\/span>Yea!!!\u00a0 <\/span>I like being perfect.\u00a0 <\/span>I am an Arabian, you know.<\/p>\n

The Lady comes to see me and tells me that I got 5th<\/sup> place with a score of 97.5.\u00a0 <\/span>She gives me hugs and then breaks out my favorite cookies and gives me five.\u00a0 <\/span>She never gives me more than two, so I know she is very happy.\u00a0 <\/span>She gives me more hay and while I\u2019m showing down, she brushes me all over and checks my feet and my legs and even sticks her fingers in my mouth.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t like that so much, but then she gave me a peppermint, so that made up for it.<\/p>\n

She goes away again and I decide I need to rest a while so I snooze under the tree in the shade.\u00a0 <\/span>Thank you, LeeAnn, for setting up my corral under the tree.<\/p>\n

A nice lady named Priscilla comes to visit me in the late afternoon.\u00a0 <\/span>She takes me out to stretch my legs and eat some grass.\u00a0 <\/span>I like this person, she\u2019s very quiet and not fussy.\u00a0 <\/span>I eat grass and meet her friend\u2019s horse.\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s a nice looking gelding with very long legs.\u00a0 <\/span>I sure hope I can keep up with him tomorrow.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t have long legs but I can sure stretch my legs out and go fast!!!!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>DARK and it\u2019s time for bed.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s been trying to rain a couple times since I got back from my ride.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady asked me if I wanted her to put up the canopy and I told her that I had a nice tree and didn\u2019t need it.\u00a0 <\/span>She was glad because she really didn\u2019t want to drag it out and set it up.\u00a0 <\/span>I think The Lady was only in bed about 30 minutes when a big thunderstorm came.\u00a0 <\/span>She quick ran out of the trailer to check on me.\u00a0 <\/span>I told her to go away, I was sleeping and didn\u2019t need her to fuss over me.\u00a0 <\/span>I sleep out in thunderstorms all the time at home.<\/p>\n

SUNDAY 4:45 am<\/p>\n

The Lady comes out of the trailer and gets me all brushed and fed.\u00a0 <\/span>SLURPY TIME!\u00a0 <\/span>I love my slurpy.\u00a0 <\/span>She tells me that today I am going to do the same trail but with a different rider.\u00a0 <\/span>Priscilla is going to ride me today.\u00a0 <\/span>I liked Priscilla, it will be a good ride.<\/p>\n

\"Day<\/a>

Day 2 of the Muckleratz July 2013 CTR. I am still working hard!<\/p><\/div>\n

Priscilla is a little more nervous about the ride than LeeAnn was \u2026 she\u2019s fussing over me too much.\u00a0 <\/span>I don\u2019t like to be fussed over.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s annoying.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady came over to help her get the girth just right.\u00a0 <\/span>And Priscilla relaxed after The Lady came over to help out.<\/p>\n

I like Priscilla riding me.\u00a0 <\/span>She only weighs about three pounds.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s like she\u2019s not even on my back.\u00a0 <\/span>Her saddle is a little hard.\u00a0 <\/span>It has a tree in it and The Lady\u2019s saddle doesn\u2019t have a tree.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady\u2019s saddle is very soft and moves with me when I ride.\u00a0 <\/span>I stiffen up a little under Priscilla\u2019s saddle, but I\u2019ll be okay.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s not pinching me or anything\u2026.just hard.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Here we go!\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m hoping I can keep up with this Morgan horse.\u00a0 <\/span>His legs are REALLY long.\u00a0 <\/span>About two miles into the trail I decide he\u2019s lazy and not moving fast enough so I go out front.\u00a0 <\/span>I lead the whole way.\u00a0 <\/span>Ha!\u00a0 <\/span>See, I may be short but I have speed!\u00a0 <\/span>Priscilla tells me I am a very mannerly and good girl because I listen to her and I don\u2019t go too fast.<\/p>\n

Back into the base and THERE\u2019S THE LADY!\u00a0 <\/span>I call and call to her until she comes over and helps Priscilla cool me off for the pulse check.\u00a0 <\/span>WAIT!\u00a0 <\/span>Lady, come back. I get a little agisted when The Lady walks away to help someone with secretary stuff and my heart rate goes up again.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s okay, under the required 64, but not its usual low rate.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady comes back and I settle back down again.<\/p>\n

Priscilla gets back on and we\u2019re off to so the second loop.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady thinks I\u2019m tired but I\u2019m not.\u00a0 <\/span>I trot out front and lead the whole way again.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, I am so happy, that comeing back into base camp I am still trotting with my tail up and my ears forward.\u00a0 <\/span>The Lady sees me and calls my name!\u00a0 <\/span>She loves me.<\/p>\n

The Lady helps Priscilla cool me off and my pulse is perfect at the 20 minute check.\u00a0 <\/span>My trot out is perfect, too.\u00a0 <\/span>I know because I heard The Lady telling Priscilla that I looked relaxed and happy with my tail up and my ears forward.<\/p>\n

When I go back up for hands on, the judge found a saddle sore (told you I didn\u2019t like that treed saddle) and I was a little tender on my back hind tendons.\u00a0 <\/span>Hey!\u00a0 <\/span>I just competed two days in a row with two riders I never met before \u2026 if that\u2019s all they could find, then I am a remarkable horse.\u00a0 <\/span>AND!!!\u00a0 <\/span>This is only my third and fourth competitions.\u00a0 <\/span>I now officially have 100 ECTRA miles.\u00a0 <\/span>Isn\u2019t that way cool?<\/p>\n

The Lady had already broke down the camp and my corral is gone.\u00a0 <\/span>She did park the trailer under a tree and guess what\u2019s waiting there for me?\u00a0 <\/span>MY SLURPY!!!!\u00a0 <\/span>I love my slurpy.\u00a0 <\/span>I wish it could be a competition every day so I could have a slurpy.<\/p>\n

I decide to take a nap while The Lady was off doing secretary stuff.\u00a0 <\/span>Later, \u00a0<\/span>The Lady woke me up to tell me that I completed the ride in 9th<\/sup> place with a score of 97.5.\u00a0 <\/span>She is very very pleased with my riding this weekend and she hugs me a million times and gives me five more cookies.\u00a0 <\/span>WOW, I got ten cookies in two days.\u00a0 <\/span>That is a remarkable weekend for me!\u00a0 <\/span>I never get so many cookies!<\/p>\n

The Lady now has the black truck and we make it home with no troubles at all.\u00a0 <\/span>I had a lot of fun and I spent all evening telling Praire and Dalliah all about my ride adventures.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
