GREENWICH TWP., Pa. – The construction of the Crossroads X warehouse in Greenwich Township was listed on Monday night’s meeting agenda under old business, but it was anything but for concerned neighbors.

“We don’t want the warehouse,” said Chris Frey, who attending the meeting to express her concerns. “It’s going to cause more traffic accidents. We don’t need more deaths. There’s enough traffic on [Route] 737 already.”

The proposed 500,000-square-foot warehouse on Route 737, north of Interstate 78 does, not have a planned tenant yet, but initial plans have some folks concerned about truck traffic.

“They’re claiming 1,900 trucks. It’s just not safe. The intersection is just too tiny to handle tractor trailer traffic,” said Dodie Sable, who is also against warehouse construction.

As a vote approached, the Crossroads X representatives requested a 10-minute recess, and when they returned, they asked for an extension of 30 days. It was granted.

When asked for comment, those representing Crossroads X declined. Still, those against construction said they hope they’ve presented enough evidence.

“Well, I’m hoping we presented enough to the board of supervisors, using our ordinances to prevent the warehouse from being built,” Sable said.

Ultimately, that decision will have to wait until December 11, as the Crossroads X representatives will review current concerns, and the supervisors will face another vote at that time.
